En estos lluviosos días quería enseñaros esta foto para traer un poco de color. Como sabéis, un día a la semana mi mesa de trabajo se traslada al campo, y siempre llevo mi cámara de fotos conmigo. Esta Centaurea pullata la fotografié en la última salida. Pertenece a la familia Asteraceae, y es conocida vulgarmente como "cabeza de pollo", "chicoreta" o "quiebra-escamas".
Fue descrita por Carolus Linnaeus y podréis encontrarla en el Mediterráneo occidental, África del Norte y la mitad meridional de la Península Ibérica. Si la buscáis en Islas Baleares o Islas Canarias no la encontraréis!
Es anual, floreciendo entre marzo y julio (a veces en octubre también) y puede alcanzar los 30 cm. Como véis en la foto, las flores son tubuladas, de hasta 10 cm de diámetro y color rosado. Son hermafroditas, las exteriores mucho más largas y estériles.
Su número cromosómico es 2n = 22.
In these rainy days I want to show you this photo to bring some color. As you know, one day a week my desk moved to the countryside, and I always carry my camera with me. This Centaurea Pullata was photographed at the last exit. It belongs to the Asteraceae family, and is commonly known as "chicken head", "chicoreta" or "bankruptcy-scales".
It was described by Carolus Linnaeus and you can find it in the western Mediterranean, North Africa and the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula. If you seek in Balearic Islands or Canary Islands you will not find!
It is an annual species, flowering between March and July (sometimes in October too) and can reach 30 cm. As you can see in the photo, flowers can up to 10 cm in diameter and pink color. They are hermaphrodites, the outer much longer and sterile.
Their chromosome number is 2n = 22.
