Hoy quiero reflejar aquí una reflexión más personal. Simplemente poder hablar un poco sobre el papel que juega el hombre en la naturaleza de manera muy puntual y concreta. Jugamos a ser dioses.
Sí, jugamos. Hace un par de años, el Tribunal Supremo confirmó al arruí (Ammotragus lervia) como especie exótica invasora, proponiendo por tanto su erradicación. Esta especie, originaria del norte de África, fue introducida en España en 1970, por la mano del hombre, por supuesto. El bosque mediterráneo, la escasez del agua y ausencia de depredadores, han permitido que se expanda sin apenas esfuerzo, ascendiendo en la Península.

El único motivo para su introducción fue la caza, inversión y rentabilidad económica. Sin embargo, apenas 50 años más tarde, se quiere de nuevo invertir pero esta vez para eliminarla. Fuera de nuestros intereses personales, sería interesante hacer una reflexión sobre el manejo que realiza el hombre de las especies. El hecho de introducir una especie en un hábitat cambia y altera la estructura y red trófica de ese ecosistema, pero de igual manera ocurre si se decide erradicar una especie establecida ya desde hace años. Quizás la solución no es erradicarla ahora, sino no haberla introducido. Puesto que al introducirla, también estamos incluyendo parásitos, enfermedades y otras especies que, aparentemente no vemos, pero que pueden desencadenar más problemas incluso que la introducción de la especie inicial. ¿Qué pensáis vosotros? ¿Quién ahora se va a hacer responsable de la erradicación de esta especie?

Today I want to reflect here a more personal opinion or reflection. Simply to be able to speak on the role played by man in nature in a very punctual and concrete way. We play to be gods. If we play. Perhaps the solution is not to eradicate it now, but rather to have introduced it. Since when we introduce it, we are also including parasites, diseases and other species that we apparently do not see, but that can trigger problems even more than the introduction of the initial species.
