LO QUE LA FOTOGRAFÍA DE NATURALEZA ME HA ENSEÑADO

Todo comenzó mientras estudiaba la carrera de biología. Desde siempre, he vivido muy ligada al campo y a la naturaleza, y desde que tengo uso de razón se me han inculcado los valores de protección del medio natural y el respeto hacia el mismo.

Por ello, descubrir la fotografía de naturaleza durante mis estudios, no ha sido mas que una excusa para seguir vinculada al medioambiente y obligarme en determinados momentos a desconectar y disfrutar de lo que me apasiona, el aire puro, el sonido de los arrendajos irrumpiendo el silencio ruidoso del bosque y el crujir de las piñas en verano anunciando la lluvia de piñones.

A pesar de tener ya desde pequeña esa conexión especial con los animales y la naturaleza, el tener una cámara en la mano me ha permitido aumentar aún más esa sensibilidad y esas ganas de conocer y enseñar lo que a veces, tenemos a pocos metros de nuestra puerta y no nos hemos parado a observar aún. Por ello, hoy me apetecía escribir sobre algunas de las muchas cosas que la fotografía de naturaleza me ha enseñado.

Dicho esto, comenzamos...

It all started while I studied biology. Since always, I have lived closely linked to the countryside and nature, and since I have use of reason I have been instilled with the values ​​of protection of the natural environment and respect for it.

Therefore, discover nature photography during my studies, has been no more than an excuse to remain linked to the environment and force me at certain times to disconnect and enjoy what I love, the pure air, the sound of jays breaking into the Noisy silence of the forest and the crunching of the pineapples in summer announcing the rain of pine nuts.

Despite having that special connection with animals and nature since I was little, having a camera in my hand has allowed me to increase even more that sensitivity and that desire to know and teach what we sometimes have, a few meters from our door and we have not stopped to observe yet. Therefore, today I wanted to write about some of the many things that nature photography has taught me.

No me considero puramente fotógrafa, soy bióloga, una bióloga que utiliza la cámara de fotos como medio de expresión y de divulgación científica, por ello, quiero mencionar en primer lugar que fotografíar naturaleza me ha enseñado a conocer más sobre las especies que fotografío. El mero hecho de fotografiar a un insecto o una pequeña flor, es solo el primer paso para informarme sobre la especie, su ecología y biología, su papel en los ecosistemas y sus características, y siempre, siempre, aprendo algo nuevo, lo que me aporta mucho valor tanto a nivel personal como profesional.

Descubrir nuevos sitios y lugares es otro punto que me ha aportado la fotografía de naturaleza. Tenemos paisajes increíbles con historias espectaculares a pocos kilómetros. Cada rincón del planeta tierra puede enseñarnos demasiadas cosas, y aunque a todos nos gusta viajar a descubrir lugares exóticos, primero debemos valorar y proteger lo que tenemos cerca, y para ello hay que conocerlo.

I do not consider myself purely a photographer, I am a biologist, a biologist who uses the camera as a means of expression and scientific dissemination, therefore, I would like to mention in the first place that photographing nature has taught me to know more about the species I photograph. The mere fact of photographing an insect or a small flower, is only the first step to inform me about the species, its ecology and biology, its role in ecosystems and its characteristics, and always, always, learn something new, what It brings a lot of value both personally and professionally.

Discovering new places and places is another point that nature photography has given me. We have incredible landscapes with spectacular stories a few kilometers away. Every corner of the planet Earth can teach us too many things, and although we all like to travel to discover exotic places, we must first value and protect what we have nearby, and for that we must know it.

Otro de los aspectos que quiero destacar y que la fotografía de naturaleza me ha enseñado estos años, es a ser más consciente cuando salgo a la naturaleza. Dejar que la mente esté en el aquí y ahora, y no en todas las cosas pendientes por hacer y en los mensajes que recibes en el móvil. Para encontrar pequeña fauna no hace falta gran cosa, solo observar, y es algo que he visto muy reforzado en mí con la fotografía. Al observar eres consciente de todo lo que no vemos por las prisas y del impacto que tenemos sobre el medio ambiente. Salir a hacer fotos macro es imposible si no encuentras basura y plásticos por el camino. Esto realmente me ha hecho ser cada vez más firme en mi postura sobre el uso de plásticos y el respeto al medio natural, por no hablar del impacto que tienen sobre las especies.

Another aspect that I want to highlight and that nature photography has taught me these years, is to be more conscious when I go out into nature. Let the mind be in the here and now, and not in all the pending things to do and in the messages that you receive in the mobile. To find small fauna does not need much, just observe, and it is something that I have seen very reinforced in me with photography. By observing, you are aware of everything we do not see because of the hurry and the impact we have on the environment. Going out to take macro photos is impossible if you do not find garbage and plastics along the way. This has really made me more and more firm in my position on the use of plastics and respect for the natural environment, not to mention the impact they have on the species.

Aparte del impacto, observar las plantas y especies, incluso después de haber concluido mi carrera y estudios, me sigue sorprendiendo y maravillando cada día. ¿Te has parado a observar el trabajo diario que realiza una colonia de hormigas, el libar de una mariposa sobre la flor o el zumbido de las abejas polinizando todas las flores de un ejemplar de romero sin pasar dos veces por la misma? ¿Y qué me dices de una puesta de huevos de pentatomidae en el extremo de una hoja, la postura de una Empusa pennata con ese movimiento para pasar desapercibida o ese duelo de una pareja de machos de Pieris sp. en vertical para conseguir el éxito reproductivo?

Sin duda, la naturaleza ya lo ha inventado todo, sólo tenemos que escucharla.

Y en relación a esto, la fotografía además me ha permitido conocer a fotógrafos y personas vinculadas y con las que comparto intereses, implicadas en la protección del medio y en fotografía de naturaleza. Próximamente haré un post con los fotógrafos que me inspiran, cuyos trabajos son dignos de mención.

Apart from the impact, observing plants and species, even after finishing my studies and studies, continues to surprise and amaze me every day. Have you stopped to observe the daily work done by an ant colony, the libar of a butterfly on the flower or the buzz of bees pollinating all the flowers of a rosemary specimen without passing through it twice? And what about a pentatomidae egg laying on the end of a leaf, the position of an Empusa pennata with that movement to go unnoticed or that duel of a pair of male Pieris sp. vertically to achieve reproductive success?

Without a doubt, nature has already invented everything, we just have to listen to it.

Y aquí concluyo este post que, aunque quizás es algo diferente y más personal a los que suelo hacer, espero que os haya gustado y os haya transmitido mi esencia.

No quiero despedirme sin mencionar esta frase, que para mí es todo un lema y reza así

"No se protege lo que no se ama, no se ama lo que no se conoce, no se conoce lo que no se enseña".

Solo espero una vez más haberos acercado la naturaleza y el valor que tiene.
