Septiembre es el nuevo Enero. 

Dicho esto, comenzamos nueva temporada en el blog después de unos días de descanso. 

Antes de nada, bienvenidos los nuevos lectores y mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos aquellos que seguís por aquí y por mis otras redes sociales, leyéndome en cada post, comentando y compartiéndolo. Gracias.

September is the new January.

Tengo varios asuntos que quiero comentar en este primer post de vuelta. Espero que no se haga demasiado largo. 
Os traigo además el resto de fotos que hice a la oruga de la mariposa Búho (Caligo memnon) y que no había subido al blog aún, espero que os gusten. 
Pero lo más importante esta vez, no son las fotos sino el texto que las acompaña, ya que me apetece ponerme al día antes de comenzar de lleno hablando de especies concretas como suelo hacer.

I have several issues that I want to discuss in this first post back. I hope it doesn't get too long. 
I also bring you the rest of the photos that I made to the caterpillar of the owl butterfly (Caligo memnon) and that I had not uploaded to the blog yet, I hope you like them. 
But the most important thing this time is not the photos but the accompanying text, since I feel like catching up before I start talking about specific species as I usually do.

A pesar de haber estado poco tiempo sin publicar, como os avisé, no puedo no echar la vista atrás y dejar pasar la importancia que tienen los grandes incendios que hemos vivido, algunos aún activos, el pasado mes de Agosto. 

Este era el primer punto al que quería hacer mención. Sin duda, el incendio de la Amazonía ha sido devastador, las imágenes que hemos visto me hacen temblar. Estamos destruyendo el pulmón del planeta a ritmo insostenible y, sin embargo, lo que más me preocupa es que poco parecemos aprender de este error. 

No obstante, no debemos caer en el fallo de solo dilvulgar lo preocupante que resulta que la selva Amazónica esté en peligro ahora, y que dentro de varios días haya caído en el olvido, pues la deforestación principalmente causada para cambiar el uso de los terrenos a zonas agrícolas y ganaderas, que está sufriendo es una realidad día sí y día también, y los incendios provocados en la Amazonía son frecuentes desde hace años. ¿Somos conscientes realmente de lo que aporta esta zona del mundo al planeta entero? 

Estudios científicos han dejado claro que el Amazonas contribuye de manera decisiva a regular el clima mundial, es una de las regiones más ricas en cuanto a biodiversidad, influye en las corrientes oceánicas y es uno de los mayores sumideros de dióxido de carbono y productores, por tanto, de oxígeno. A veces olvidamos que sin esto, no vivimos.

Despite having been a short time without publishing, as I warned you, I cannot not look back and let the importance of the great fires we have experienced, some still active, last August.

This was the first point I wanted to mention. Without a doubt, the Amazon fire has been devastating, the images we have seen make me tremble. We are destroying the lung of the planet at an unsustainable pace and yet what worries me most is that we seem to learn little from this error.
However, we must not fall into the decision of just dilvulgar how worrying it is that the Amazon rainforest is in danger now, and that within several days it has fallen into oblivion, since the deforestation mainly caused to change the use of the land to agricultural and livestock areas, which is suffering is a reality day and day too, and the fires caused in the Amazon have been frequent for years. Are we really aware of what this area of ​​the world brings to the entire planet?

Scientific studies have made it clear that the Amazon contributes decisively to regulate the global climate, is one of the richest regions in terms of biodiversity, influences ocean currents and is one of the largest sinks of carbon dioxide and producers, by so much of oxygen. Sometimes we forget that without this, we can't live.

Por otra parte, quiero hacer hincapié en que esta catástrofe ambiental no debe eclipsar a todo lo que nos rodea, ya que, durante este mes de Agosto, España, Angola, Congo, Portugal... se han visto inmersos también en innumerables incendios, teniendo aún activos unos 10.000 incendios sólo en Angola y Congo frente a los 2.000 aproximadamente de Brasil. 

On the other hand, I want to emphasize that this environmental catastrophe should not overshadow everything around us, since, during this month of August, Spain, Angola, Congo, Portugal ... have also been immersed in countless fires, still having about 10,000 fires active only in Angola and Congo compared to approximately 2,000 in Brazil.

Estos incendios no son un problema para los países que los sufren, sino que supone una deuda ambiental para todo el planeta. Todos somos responsables de parar estas actuaciones que no harán otra cosa que llevarnos al fracaso como sociedad y especie. Porque no son sólo los incendios, también la contaminación de los océanos y ecosistemas por plásticos y la sobreexplotación de recursos naturales nos están empujando hacia un punto de no retorno. 

Ya el 29 de julio de este año, adelantándose una vez más al año anterior, llegamos al día de sobrecapacidad de la Tierra.

These fires are not a problem for the countries that suffer them, but it represents an environmental debt for the entire planet. We are all responsible for stopping these actions that will do nothing but lead us to failure as a society and species. Because it is not only fires, also the pollution of the oceans and ecosystems by plastics and the overexploitation of natural resources are pushing us towards a point of no return.
Already on July 29 of this year, advancing once more to the previous year, we arrived at the Earth's overcapacity day.

Pero la intención de este post no es comenzar septiembre con sentimientos negativos hacia lo mal que, como especie, estamos tratando nuestro hogar, sino todo lo contrario. 

Septiembre es el nuevo Enero, es un mes de vuelta a las rutinas, al trabajo, a los hábitos, y es una segunda oportunidad para conseguir todo aquello que nos propusimos a principios de año y que, por unas cosas u otras, no hemos hecho.

Por ello te propongo comenzar el mes cambiando tus hábitos y aportando al medio ambiente todo lo que puedas. Que estas catástrofes ambientales sirvan, al menos, para darnos ese impulso que a veces necesitamos para actuar, hacer las cosas bien por nuestra parte y de manera individual. Porque todos los granitos de arena, hacen una playa. Comienza por poner todos los que puedas. 

But the intention of this post is not to start September with negative feelings to that, as a species, we are treating our home, but quite the opposite.
September is the new January, it is a month back to routines, work, habits, and it is a second chance to get everything we set out at the beginning of the year and that, for some things or others, we have not done .

That is why I propose to start the month by changing your habits and contributing to the environment as much as you can. That these environmental catastrophes serve, at least, to give us that impulse that sometimes we need to act, to do things well on our part and individually. Because all the grains of sand make a beach. Start by putting all you can.

Si te apetece, escribiré un post contando algunos de los hábitos que yo he ido adoptando los últimos meses. Creo firmemente que tenemos la obligación de reflexionar seriamente sobre esto y ser conscientes del impacto y la huella ecológica que producimos y en qué manera podemos reducirla.

Te animo de corazón a que aproveches este comienzo de mes para dar esos pasos que has ido procrastinando durante tiempo y recuerda que, lo importante no es cambiar cientos de hábitos y ser perfecto, sino tener las ganas de cambiar y dar el primer paso, pero darlo, y avanzar en una vida más sostenible y respetuosa con nuestra casa y las especies con la que la compartimos.

If you feel like it, I will write a post telling some of the habits that I have been adopting in recent months. I strongly believe that we have an obligation to reflect seriously on this and be aware of the impact and the ecological footprint we produce and how we can reduce it.
I encourage you from the heart to take advantage of this beginning of the month to take those steps that you have been procrastinating for a while and remember that, the important thing is not to change hundreds of habits and be perfect, but to have the desire to change and take the first step, but give it, and move forward in a more sustainable and respectful life with our house and the species with which we share it.
