ESCARABAJO DE LAS FLORES - TROPINOTA SP.

Como todos los años, cuando Diciembre hace su entrada triunfal, comienza la locura, tiendas, regalos, decoración navideña, amigos, fiestas, y repaso de todos los propósitos que nos hicimos 11 meses atrás y que muchos sin cumplir dejamos un año más en la siguiente lista. 

Pero este diciembre es más especial aún. Con él echamos el cierre a una década, y abrimos una nueva etapa. Y aunque acostumbro a hacer un balance personal todos los meses, semanas e incluso días sobre aquellos aspectos en los que quiero mejorar, diciembre me obliga a reflexionar de manera más pausada.

As every year, when December makes its triumphal entry, the madness begins, shops, gifts, Christmas decoration, friends, parties, and review of all the purposes we did 11 months ago and that many unfulfilled leave one more year in the next list.

But this December is even more special. With it we close to a decade, and open a new stage. And although I usually do a personal balance every month, weeks and even days on those aspects in which I want to improve, December forces me to reflect more slowly.

Respecto a la fotografía, este año 2020 va a ser intenso. Tengo muchas fotos que enseñaros, y a la vez menos tiempo del que me gustaría. Malabares. Pero me organizaré para poder llegar a todo. 

La verdad es que los últimos meses he conseguido organizarme mejor, tener más claros mis objetivos y trabajar en lo que realmente me hace sentir alineada. Trazar una hoja de ruta. Y si algo me hace sentir bien, es observar naturaleza a través de mi cámara. Salir a dar un paseo por el campo estos días soleados de otoño, cámara en mano y cinco sentidos activados, me resulta enormemente gratificante. Y siempre aprendo algo nuevo.

Regarding photography, this year 2020 will be intense. I have many photos to show you, and at the same time less time than I would like. Juggle. But I will organize to get to everything.

The truth is that in recent months I have managed to organize myself better, to have clearer my goals and to work on what really makes me feel aligned. Draw a road map. And if something makes me feel good, it is to observe nature through my camera. Going for a walk in the countryside these sunny autumn days, camera in hand and five senses activated, I find it enormously gratifying. And I always learn something new.

En uno de mis paseos hace un tiempo, me topé con este escarabajo de las flores (Tropinota squalida). Es una especie común, pero no he tenido muchas oportunidades de fotografiarla. Estos coleópteros de la familia Scarabaeidae pertenecen a la subfamilia Cetoniinae (cetóninos o escarabajos de las flores) que engloba a más de 4.000 especies. En concreto Tropinota sp. tiene actividad diurna y se alimenta de polen lo que los convierte en importantes polinizadores. 

Sin embargo, cuando su población aumenta, puede volverse un problema en ciertos cultivos, causando daños principalmente en frutales y vid. 

On one of my walks a while ago, I came across this flower beetle (Tropinota squalida). It is a common species, but I have not had many opportunities to photograph it. These beetles of the family Scarabaeidae belong to the subfamily Cetoniinae (ketones or flower beetles) that encompasses more than 4,000 species. Specifically Tropinota sp. It has daytime activity and feeds on pollen which makes them important pollinators.

However, when its population increases, it can become a problem in certain crops, mainly causing damage to fruit trees and vines.

Es muy característica su pilosidad y las manchitas blancas que presentan en los élitros sobre la coloración negra. Y no suelen superar 1 centímetro de tamaño. A partir de primavera podréis ver a los adultos en diversas especies vegetales, como este ejemplar sobre Cistus albidus (jara blanca).

It is very characteristic its hairiness and the white spots that they present in the wings on the black coloration. And they don't usually exceed 1 centimeter in size. From spring you can see adults in various plant species, such as this specimen on Cistus albidus.
